(Vintage) When The QB Told Bob To Go Long

[An old poem about football from 2002.]

When The QB Told Bob To Go Long

Kenneth Burchfiel

When the QB told Bob to go long,

The happy tight end hummed a song.

On “hut one! Hut two!”

The New Orleans blues,

Made the defense clap along.

When the hut, hut, hike! was said,

Sam’s helmet flew off of his head.

The defense lost all

Mistaking helmet for ball

As the pass to Sam drifted ahead.

As the Quarterback’s long throw,

Drifted right in to the snow,

A coach recommended

The game shoud be ended

Because the players can’t look below.
